Our story

What does "Soban" mean?

Soban (소반) is the traditional Korean low table where, for centuries, families have gathered to share a meal. Every dish, every side, every gesture around the table tells a story — of season, of region, of generations.

We chose the name because that is exactly what we want to offer in Quito: not just Korean food, but the experience of sitting down at a Korean family table.

Authentic Korean cuisine, in Ecuador

Behind every dish is the family that runs the restaurant. We prepare each recipe using the techniques and ingredients that have defined Korean cooking for decades — from slow-marinated bulgogi to the banchan that accompanies every meal.

Korean kitchens are rare in Ecuador. We want Soban to be the place where the Korean community in Quito, curious Ecuadorians, and travelers can all find genuine flavors — no shortcuts.
